How to Use our Each Way Single Bet Calculator:

An each way bet means you win for both the selection winning (at full odds) and placing (normally 1/4 or 1/5 odds). This calculates the amount you win if your selection wins, or if your selection only places.

Instructions for Each Way Single Bet Calculator:

Enter the total stake (ie £5 each way is £10 total stake) and the odds in decimal (eg 3.50) or fraction (eg 5/2) format. Select the amount the bookmaker is paying for place, and specify whether the selection wins or places.

Example Calculation: (If not shown above then reset here).

£10 staked (£5 on the win, £5 on the place) at odds of 9/1 (or 10.00). The selection wins, and a place pays at 1/4 odds. The return for the win is £50 (£5×10.00), the return for the place is 16.25. The total return is 66.25, minus the staked £10 gives a profit of £56.25.

Each Way Bet Calculator FAQ:

1: How are each-way bet calculated?

The winnings can be calculated by adding the winnings of the two bets together. If the horse doesn’t win but does place (i.e. finishes in the top three) then your first bet loses, but the second bet to place wins. The winnings can be calculated by taking the original odds and applying the each way fraction

2: How much will I win on each way?

Usually 1/4 or 1/5. In each-way betting, if your horse wins, you will win both the ‘win’ and ‘place’ parts of your bet. But if it only places, you will lose the ‘win’ part of your bet and win the ‘place’ part of your bet.

3: How do you work out an ew bet?

Each Way betting is simply two bets on a single selection. One section of the bet is for a win, the other section is for the bet to be placed; placed is to come between 2nd, 3rd or 4th. So if your selection wins, you’ll be paid for both parts of the bet, but if it’s placed, then you’ll only be paid for the place bet.
